According to the UN environment programme: Emissions Gap Report 2022,

“Transportation is the second-largest source of energy-related CO2 emissions globally, contributing 25 per cent of total energy-related CO2 emissions" (IEA 2021).


Light-duty electric vehicle sales reached 8.3 per cent of total sales in 2021. This must increase to between 35 per cent and 95 per cent by 2030.” Electrifying the transportation industry does not just require electric cars, buses, and lorries.
